THS: How long have you been a Certified Massage Therapist? Tell us a bit about your training.
Vanessa: I have been a licensed CMT for 10 years now. I first trained in San Luis Obispo county receiving 2000 hours at the Hirudaya Holistic Life Center. I then moved to Hawaii receiving advanced training with 450 hours at the Aloha Academy, but my favorite style and experience has been my training at the Esalen Institute. It’s slow paced, intuitive, and extremely relaxing.
THS: What inspired you to become a Certified Massage Therapist?
Vanessa: My mother is a massage therapist. Growing up, she had me help kneed Thai herb packs into her clients, and I quickly fell in love with the calm, meditative, nurturing profession.
THS: What do you enjoy most about your practice?
Vanessa: I enjoy the exchange with my client. No matter what background you come from we all need the gift of healing touch. Each person is unique therefore every massage is different and special.
THS: What do you love most about working at the Tea House Spa?
Vanessa: It’s a serene, calming environment with a happy, uplifting team to work with.
THS: What are some things you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Vanessa: I enjoy traveling, yoga, surfing, dancing, cooking, painting, hiking, laughing, and vintage shopping.
THS: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Vanessa: Adventurous, compassionate, silly
THS: Thank you, Vanessa. We hope you continue to relax and heal our Tea House clients for years to come.
